So you're thinking about booking a condo in Puerto Vallarta?
I get it. We've been helping travelers find the perfect place to stay here for years. And let me tell you: there's a LOT to consider before you hit that "book now" button.
Don't worry. I've got you covered.
Here are 10 things you absolutely need to know before booking your Puerto Vallarta condo rental.
1. Neighborhood Selection Is Everything
This is probably the most important decision you'll make.
Puerto Vallarta has tons of different neighborhoods. Each one has its own vibe. Alta Vista, Amapas, Conchas Chinas, the Hotel Zone, Marina Vallarta: the list goes on.
But if you want my honest advice? Old Town (also called Zona Romántica) is where the magic happens.
You're steps away from the beach. Local restaurants are everywhere. The famous Malecon boardwalk is right there. And the nightlife? Unbeatable.

If you're a first-time visitor, Old Town gives you the authentic Puerto Vallarta experience. Walking to everything beats taking taxis every day.
2. Booking Directly Has Big Advantages
Here's something most people don't realize.
When you book directly with a local property owner or management company, you often get better service. Way better.
Why? Because we actually live here. We know the area inside and out. We can give you restaurant recommendations, beach tips, and insider info that big booking platforms just can't offer.
Plus, you're dealing with real people who care about your experience. Not some faceless customer service line in another country.
3. Timing Your Trip Matters More Than You Think
Puerto Vallarta has distinct seasons.
The winter months (December through February) are the busiest. Everyone wants that warm escape from the cold. The weather is perfect: sunny skies, low humidity, comfortable temperatures.
But here's a secret: the shoulder seasons are AMAZING.
September through November? Fewer crowds. The weather is still great. And you'll have a more relaxed experience overall.
May and June work too if you don't mind a little humidity before the brief rainy season.
4. Know What Amenities Actually Matter to You
Not all condos are created equal.
Some have stunning ocean views. Others offer rooftop pools. Some are perfect for remote work with fast WiFi and dedicated workspaces.
Before you book, make a list of what you actually need.

Ask yourself:
- Do I need a full kitchen or just a kitchenette?
- Is air conditioning a must-have?
- Do I want a balcony?
- Is proximity to the beach more important than a pool?
- Am I working remotely and need reliable internet?
Be honest with yourself. There's no point booking a gorgeous penthouse if it doesn't have what you actually need.
5. Long-Term Stays Are Totally Doable
Planning to stay a while? You're in luck.
Lots of condo rentals in Puerto Vallarta offer extended stay options. We're talking monthly rentals for digital nomads, snowbirds, or anyone who just needs a longer escape.
Many property owners (including us!) offer adjusted arrangements for stays of 30 days or more.
If you're considering spending a month or more here, just ask. You might be surprised at what's available.
6. Local Concierge Services Are a Game-Changer
This is something I wish more travelers knew about.
Good rental companies don't just hand you keys and disappear. We offer concierge services to help you make the most of your trip.
Need a restaurant reservation? Done.

7. Property Variety Is Huge: Know What You Want
The rental market here ranges from cozy studios to massive multi-bedroom villas.
Traveling solo or as a couple? A well-appointed one-bedroom might be perfect.
Coming with family or a group of friends? You'll want multiple bedrooms, maybe multiple bathrooms, and a common area where everyone can hang out.
Don't just look at photos. Read the descriptions carefully. Check how many people the space actually accommodates comfortably.
A "sleeps 6" listing doesn't always mean 6 people will be comfortable there.
8. Check Real-Time Availability Before You Get Attached
There's nothing worse than falling in love with a property online only to find out it's already booked.
Good rental companies have real-time availability calendars on their websites. Use them!
Check your dates first. Then start imagining yourself on that balcony with a margarita.
It saves time. It saves disappointment. And it helps you plan more efficiently.
9. Research Who You're Booking With
This one's important.
Anyone can list a property online these days. But not everyone knows what they're doing.
Look for established companies or owners with a track record. Read reviews. Check how long they've been in business.
We've been part of the Puerto Vallarta community for years. We know these neighborhoods. We know what travelers need.

Working with people who actually live here and care about their guests makes a massive difference in your experience.
10. Plan According to Your Group Size
This seems obvious but people mess it up all the time.
If you're traveling with a group, sit down and figure out:
- How many bedrooms do you actually need?
- Does everyone need their own bathroom?
- Is a shared kitchen going to work, or will people get in each other's way?
- Do you need multiple sleeping areas so night owls don't disturb early risers?
Be realistic. Vacation is supposed to be relaxing. Cramming too many people into a small space is not relaxing.
Better to get a slightly larger place and have room to breathe than to save a few bucks and be miserable.
