We absolutely LOVE the energy of the Romantic Zone.
There is nothing quite like the music, the street food, and the constant buzz of people enjoying their vacation.
But we also know that sometimes, you just want to be alone with your partner.
You want to hear the waves instead of the music.
You want to feel like you’ve discovered a secret that nobody else knows about.
If you are a couple looking for that quiet, romantic escape, we have spent a lot of time searching for the best hidden gems.
Puerto Vallarta has some AMAZING spots that feel worlds away from the main tourist drag.
Here are our absolute favorite quiet beach spots for couples who want to escape the crowds.
The Secluded Magic of Playa Caballo
If you want to feel like you are on a deserted island, Playa Caballo is the place to go.
It is honestly like something out of a movie.
There are no roads to get here, so you have to either hike through the jungle or take a water taxi.
We highly recommend taking the water taxi from the pier in the Romantic Zone for a truly romantic arrival.
The beach is a long stretch of golden sand lined with massive palm trees and nothing else.
No vendors. No loud speakers. Just the two of you and the ocean.
We love to bring a small cooler with some drinks and just spend the afternoon watching the waves.
The water here is a stunning turquoise color that you just don't see at the main beaches downtown.
It is the ultimate spot for a private picnic and some quality time together.

Conchas Chinas: The "Beverly Hills" of Beaches
If you don't want to travel too far but still want to escape the noise, Conchas Chinas is the perfect choice.
It is only about a 15-minute walk south of the Romantic Zone, but it feels like a different world.
The beach is broken up into several small coves by natural rock formations.
These rocks create beautiful tide pools where you can sit and relax in the clear water.
Because it’s tucked away behind some of the most beautiful villas in the city, it stays much quieter than Los Muertos beach.
The scenery here is SOOO beautiful.
It is a great spot to catch the sunset before heading back into town for dinner.
After a quiet afternoon here, you might want to check out A Toast to the Coast for some great wine and tapas spots nearby.
We love coming here when we want a "lazy" beach day that doesn't involve a boat ride.

Intimacy at Majahuitas Cove
Majahuitas is one of the smallest and most intimate beaches in the entire bay.
It is tucked into a tiny cove that is only accessible by boat.
The water is incredibly calm and clear, which makes it perfect for snorkeling together.
We have seen so many colorful fish and even sea turtles right near the shore.
Most of the big tour boats stop here for a little while, but if you go on your own, you can find times when it is completely empty.
There is a real "deserted island" vibe here that we just ADORE.
It’s the kind of place where you can truly disconnect from the world and just focus on each other.
The lush green jungle comes right down to the sand, creating a stunning backdrop for photos.
It is definitely one of the most romantic spots in all of Puerto Vallarta.
A Day Trip to Yelapa
Yelapa is a small fishing village about 45 minutes south by boat.
There are no cars in Yelapa, which means the only sounds you hear are the ocean and the birds.
It has a very laid-back, bohemian vibe that is perfect for couples.
You can spend the morning lounging on the main beach or take a short hike up to a beautiful waterfall.
The village is full of small, locally-owned restaurants where you can get the freshest seafood you've ever tasted.
We always feel so relaxed the moment we step off the boat onto the sand.
It is the perfect day trip if you want to experience the "old Mexico" feel.
If you're planning a full day of romance, you should also look at our guide on Tacos and Tequila for Two for when you get back to town.
Yelapa is a place that stays in your heart long after you leave.

The Natural Beauty of Playa Las Animas
Playa Las Animas is another gorgeous spot that you can reach by boat or by hiking from Boca de Tomatlan.
If you are an active couple, the hike is AMAZING.
It takes you along the coastline through the jungle and past several tiny, hidden beaches.
Once you get to Las Animas, the sand is soft and yellow, and the water is perfect for swimming.
While there are some small restaurants here, it never feels as crowded as the city beaches.
We love to grab a couple of lounge chairs, order a fresh coconut, and just enjoy the view.
It is a great balance of having some amenities while still feeling close to nature.
The jungle backdrop is incredibly lush, and the whole area feels very wild and untouched.
It is a must-visit for any couple who loves the outdoors.

Finding Your Quiet Home Base
After a long day of exploring these hidden beaches, you need a quiet place to come home to.
Having a peaceful sanctuary is key to a romantic vacation.
We always recommend staying in a place that feels like a private retreat.
If you are looking for a condo rental in puerto vallarta that offers peace and quiet, Sueño is an incredible choice.
It is designed for relaxation and keeps you close to the action without the noise.
For those who want a modern feel with plenty of space to unwind, check out our other condo rentals puerto vallarta like The Nest.
Both properties are perfect for couples who want to enjoy the city but value their privacy and tranquility.
We take a lot of pride in making sure our guests have a calm environment to return to.

Tips for Your Secret Beach Day
If you're heading out to these quiet spots, we have a few tips to make your day perfect.
First, always check the water taxi schedule before you head out so you don't get stranded!
Second, pack plenty of water and sunblock, as some of these beaches have very little shade.
Third, don't forget to bring some cash for the boat captains and the small beach restaurants.
Most importantly, take the time to just sit and be present with each other.
Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful place, but the real magic happens in those quiet moments away from the crowds.
We hope you find your new favorite "secret spot" during your stay.
