Everyone knows our beaches are world-class.
But honestly?
My favorite part of Puerto Vallarta isn't the sand.
It is the jungle.
The Sierra Madre mountains wrap around our city like a big, green hug.
We call it the "Green Wall."
If you are a couple looking for something more than just a tan, you have to head into the trees.
The jungle here is wild, lush, and incredibly romantic.
It feels like a secret world just minutes away from the cobblestone streets of Old Town.
We have spent years exploring these trails.
I want to share the best ways to experience the jungle with your partner.
The Most Romantic Garden in the World
If you do only one thing away from the ocean, make it the Vallarta Botanical Gardens.
I am not exaggerating when I say this place is BREATHTAKING.
It is located about 30 minutes south of the city.
The drive alone is beautiful.
You wind along the coast and then head deep into the mountains.
Once you arrive, you are surrounded by thousands of orchids and tropical plants.
It is so quiet and peaceful.
We LOVE walking through the narrow stone paths together.

There is a small river at the bottom of the property where you can actually swim.
The water is cool and clear.
It is the perfect spot for a quick dip after hiking the garden trails.
After your swim, head to the main hacienda for lunch.
They serve amazing local food with views that go on forever.
You can see the mountains stretching out in every direction.
It is a great place to plan your next adventure or just talk for hours.
Highly recommended for any couple visiting PV!
Hiking to Hidden Waterfalls
If you want a bit more sweat and adventure, you need to go hiking.
The south shore of the bay is full of hidden trails.
Many of these lead to secluded waterfalls that most tourists never see.
One of our favorite routes starts in Boca de Tomatlan.
You can hike along the coast to several secluded beaches for couples.
But if you turn inland, you find the real magic.
Places like Quimixto have waterfalls that are only reachable by foot or horseback.
The hike is moderate but SO worth it.
You walk through thick canopy with birds chirping everywhere.
Keep an eye out for colorful parrots!
When you reach the waterfall, the sound of the crashing water is the only thing you hear.
It is so romantic to just sit on a rock and take it all in.

We always bring a small backpack with water and some local fruit.
There is nothing better than fresh mango in the middle of the jungle.
If you aren't sure where to start, just ask us!
We love providing insider knowledge to our guests.
Helping you find those off-the-beaten-path spots is what we do best.
Living Among the Treetops
When you rent apartments in puerto vallarta, you have a choice.
You can stay right on the beach, or you can stay where the jungle meets the town.
Personally?
I think the hillside locations are much more romantic for couples.
You get these incredible panoramic views of the bay and the mountains.
Waking up to a colorful sunrise over the Sierra Madre is an experience you won't forget.
Our properties are designed to bring the outside in.
We have large windows and balconies that make you feel like you are in a treehouse.

Imagine sipping coffee in a hanging chair while watching the mist rise off the mountains.
It is so peaceful.
It is the perfect environment for digital nomads too.
The natural light and the sound of the jungle make for a very productive workspace.
If you want a place that feels like a dream, you should check out the apartaento de mi sueno.
It has everything a couple needs for a cozy, authentic stay.
Jungle Vibes and City Convenience
The best part about the jungle in Puerto Vallarta is how close it is.
You don't have to travel for hours to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.
In neighborhoods like 5 de Diciembre or the upper parts of Old Town, the jungle is your backyard.
You can spend the morning hiking a mountain trail.
Then, you can be back in town for lunch at one of our top local dining picks.
It is the best of both worlds.
We always recommend guests visit the local fruit vendors on their way back from a hike.
The pineapples and papayas here are sooo sweet and juicy.
Supporting these local businesses is a big part of why we love our community.
As a family-run business, we really value that connection.
We want you to feel like a local, not just a tourist.

Practical Tips for Your Jungle Date
The jungle is beautiful, but it is still the wild.
Here are a few tips to make your adventure perfect:
- Wear good shoes. Flip-flops are great for the beach, but not for the Sierra Madre. Wear sneakers or hiking sandals with good grip.
- Bring bug spray. The jungle can be a bit "bitey" in the early morning or evening.
- Stay hydrated. The humidity is real! Always carry more water than you think you need.
- Go early. The jungle is coolest and most active in the morning. Plus, you beat any crowds.
- Check our Instagram. We post a lot of photos and videos of our favorite trails and views. Follow us at https://www.instagram.com/thepvgirl/ to see the latest jungle updates!
Why We Love the Jungle
For us, the jungle represents the heart of Puerto Vallarta.
It is vibrant, colorful, and full of life.
Every time we go for a hike, we see something new.
A new flower, a hidden path, or a different shade of green.
It is a place where couples can truly disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other.
There are no distractions.
Just you, your partner, and the incredible beauty of nature.
Whether you are looking for a high-energy hike or a slow stroll through a garden, the jungle has it.
It makes your vacation feel like a real adventure.
We are so grateful to live in a place where the mountains meet the sea so perfectly.
If you are ready for a romantic getaway that goes beyond the beach, come visit us.
We would love to host you in one of our cozy apartments.
Puerto Vallarta is waiting for you!
