There is something truly magical about Puerto Vallarta before the rest of the world wakes up.
I’ve lived here and hosted guests for years, and my absolute favorite way to start the day is with a little "me time" before the tropical heat kicks in.
If you are a solo traveler, this city is your playground. It is safe, friendly, and SOOO beautiful in the early morning light!!
Whether you are here for a quick trip or you’re a puerto vallarta digital nomad staying for a month, you need to experience a mindful morning here.
Early Morning Peace on the Malecón
I always recommend starting at the Malecón around 6:30 AM.
At this hour, the ocean is like a mirror. You won't find the usual crowds or loud music.
Instead, you get the sound of the waves and the rhythmic sweeping of the street cleaners. It is meditation in motion.
I love to find a quiet spot near the south end, close to the Seahorse statue, and just breathe.
The low-rise buildings of the Old Town look so charming against the Sierra Madre mountains as the sun peeks over the peaks.
If you want even more seclusion, head a little further south to Amapas Beach.
It is tucked away behind some rocks and stays very quiet until about 8:00 AM.

It is the perfect place to sit on the sand and clear your head before the workday starts.
If you read my post about The View from Above, you know I love the mountains, but the ocean has its own way of grounding you.
Market Magic in 5 de Diciembre
Once I’m feeling centered, I always head for food.
The local markets are the heartbeat of this city.
The 5 de Diciembre neighborhood is authentic and gritty in the best way possible.
I LOVE the fruit vendors here!

The colors are just AMAZING: bright orange papayas, deep red dragon fruit, and the freshest avocados you’ve ever seen.
Buying your groceries from these local family-run stalls is the best way to support our community.
That is a big part of what we care about at The PVGirl too. We are a local, family-run business, and we LOVE helping guests connect with the real Puerto Vallarta.
Plus, the vendors are so friendly. They always have a "Buenos días" and a smile for you.
After the fruit stalls, I usually wander over to the Municipal Market by the Río Cuale.
It is a great place to find handmade crafts or a lightweight Mexican blanket for your beach meditations.
It feels so much more personal than shopping at a big grocery store.
Your Private Oasis for Work and Rest
As much as I love exploring, I know that as a puerto vallarta digital nomad, you need a solid home base.
You need high-speed internet, a comfortable desk, and a view that doesn't quit.
We’ve designed our rentals in puerto vallarta specifically for people who want that perfect balance of work and play.
Our properties are all about comfort and authentic local vibes.
Take a look at the view from the balcony: it is the perfect spot for a post-market coffee.

If you prefer being right in the heart of the action, our puerto vallarta rentals old town put you steps away from the best markets and cafes.
You can read more about my favorite morning spots in my guide to Coffee, Culture, and Connections.
Everything is within walking distance, so you don't even need a car.
Why You'll Love Being Solo Here
Puerto Vallarta is incredibly welcoming.
I hear from solo travelers all the time who say they felt "at home" within 24 hours.
There is a sense of community here that is hard to find elsewhere.
Whether you are meditating on the beach or chatting with a taco vendor, you are never truly alone unless you want to be.
But best of all, you get to set your own pace.
No rushing to meet a group, no compromising on where to eat. Just pure, unadulterated serenity.
I highly recommend taking at least one morning to just wander without a plan.
