Playa Amapas: The Secret Cove
Most people stop at the big pier in Old Town, but they are missing out!! If you keep walking south along the coast, you will find Playa Amapas. It is a tiny, beautiful beach tucked behind some big rocks.
It is sooo much quieter than the main beach. We love coming here because the rocks block out the noise of the city. You can just sit on the sand and watch the sky change colors.
It is the perfect place for a private moment. There are no loud bars or big crowds here. Just the two of you and the sound of the ocean. If you are looking for a romantic Amapas experience, this is the spot!
Hillside Harmony at Vista Grill
If you want a view from way up high, you have to visit Vista Grill. It is perched on the hillside in Amapas and the view is just AMAZING. We go there when we want to feel a little bit fancy but still keep things quiet.
They usually have soothing jazz music playing. It fits the mood perfectly. You can grab a couple of cocktails and watch the entire bay light up. Because it is up on the hill, you can see all the way to the other side of the ocean.
It is one of those places where you just want to sit and stay for hours. The service is great and they really know how to make couples feel special. We highly recommend it for a quiet sunset date.
The Mirador on Cerro de Amapas
For the couples who don't mind a little bit of a walk, the Mirador (viewpoint) on the hill is a must. The streets in Amapas wind up the mountain and every turn gives you a better view.
We love walking these streets because you get to see the beautiful local houses and all the tropical flowers. The bougainvillea is so bright it almost looks fake!
When you get to the high points on the road, you can look down at the ocean. It is so peaceful up there. You are away from the cars and the shops. It is just you, the trees, and the view.

The Coastal Path to Conchas Chinas
There is a stone path that connects Amapas to the next beach, Conchas Chinas. Walking this path at sunset is one of the most romantic things you can do in Puerto Vallarta.
The path hugs the ocean. You have the jungle on one side and the waves crashing against the rocks on the other. There are several little "pockets" along the path with benches or flat rocks where you can sit.
We always find a quiet spot along here to just be still. It is a great place to talk and enjoy the fresh air. It feels very private and tucked away.
