Most people head straight to the main pier at Los Muertos Beach. It is fun, but it can be so loud and crowded.
But if you keep walking south along the coast, something AMAZING happens!
The crowds disappear. The sand gets whiter. The water looks like turquoise glass.
We highly recommend finding the tiny rocky inlets between the main beach and Playa Conchas Chinas. These little coves are so perfect for couples who want to sit together and listen to the waves.
It is so romantic to find a spot where it is just the two of you. We love to bring a little picnic and just watch the ocean. There are no big hotels here, just the natural beauty of the Sierra Madre meeting the sea.
Local Flavors Without the Lines
One of the best things about staying in Amapas is being so close to authentic local food.
We always tell our guests to skip the expensive beach clubs for lunch. Instead, walk a few blocks into the neighborhood. You will find the BEST taco stands that have been run by the same families for generations!
The flavors are just incredible. Everything is fresh and made with so much love. We recently found a tiny taco spot that serves the most AMAZING al pastor we have ever tasted.
Eating at these local spots is a great way to support the community. Plus, you get a much more authentic experience than you would at a big resort.
A Romantic Afternoon of Art and Culture
If you want a break from the sun, we have a great suggestion for a date afternoon.
Walk down the hill toward the mosaics at Lázaro Cárdenas Park. This park is a masterpiece! Every bench and pillar is covered in colorful tiles. It is a beautiful place to sit and just take in the local vibe.
After the park, we love to visit Galleria Dante. It is one of the most famous galleries in the area, but it always feels quiet and sophisticated. Walking through the garden with all the sculptures is such a peaceful experience.
