Coworking Spaces: When You Need the Real Deal
Sometimes a cafe just won't cut it. You need proper ergonomics, phone booths for calls, and people who understand that "I'm working" means "please don't interrupt me."

Joint Coworking Hotel is the newer option, also positioned along the Rio Cuale.
They offer hot desks, private offices, a conference room, and even a podcasting room. Yes, a PODCASTING room. If you're creating content while traveling, this is a game-changer.
Both spaces are professional without being stuffy. You'll find other digital nomads, remote workers, and entrepreneurs who totally get the lifestyle.
Puerto Café: The Hipster Haven
Morelos 540 is where you'll find Puerto Café, and it has that perfect hipster-without-trying-too-hard vibe.
WiFi speeds hit 10 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. Not quite as fast as El Sofa, but totally workable for most tasks.
What I love about this place is the variety of seating options. Counters, tables, comfy chairs. Plus they have a separate quiet meeting room if you need to take a call.
The atmosphere here is relaxed and creative. You'll see writers, designers, and folks working on passion projects alongside their day jobs.
A Page In The Sun: The Veteran
This bookstore-cafe combination has been serving the Old Town community for over 20 years.
Located at Lázaro Cárdenas 169, they're open from 7 am to 11 pm daily. DAILY. That's basically unheard of in the cafe world here.
The WiFi is reliable. They serve cakes, sandwiches, and drinks. And you're surrounded by books, which honestly makes everything better.
If you need a workspace that feels like a cozy library, this is it. I've spent countless evenings here when I needed to push through projects after dinner.

Mi Cafe: The Consistent Performer
You'll find Mi Cafe at the corner of Madero and Naranjo.

There's no gimmick, no special vibe, no complicated menu. It's a solid, reliable workspace where you can get your stuff done without drama.
I come here when I need to focus without distractions. The atmosphere is calm and the staff leaves you alone to work.
Monzon Brewing Co.: Where Beer Meets Bandwidth
Here's where things get fun.
Monzon Brewing Co. has great WiFi AND craft beer. The staff is welcoming, and they're totally cool with you camping out for longer work sessions.
This is my go-to spot for late afternoons when I've been productive and want to reward myself while wrapping up emails.
The combination of good internet and good beer is harder to find than you'd think. Monzon nails both.
Plus, the atmosphere shifts from productive workspace during the day to social gathering spot in the evening. It's the perfect transition when you're done working but not ready to leave.
Big Apple Deli: For Quick Tasks Only
I'm including this for completeness, but Big Apple Deli has limited seating.
It works fine for checking emails or handling light tasks, but you're not going to spend your whole workday here.
Think of it as a backup option when everywhere else is packed.
My Personal Work Setup Strategy
After three years of remote work in Zona Romantica, here's what I've learned works best:
Start mornings at El Sofa Cafe when the WiFi is fast and the space is quiet. Get your heavy-lifting tasks done before they close at 4 pm.
If you need a full professional day, book into Vallarta Cowork or Joint Coworking Hotel. The investment is worth it for the ergonomics and reliable connection.
For evening work sessions, head to A Page In The Sun or Monzon Brewing Co. depending on whether you want coffee or craft beer.
When I'm working from one of our Puerto Vallarta Mexico Condo Rentals, having these backup options is essential. Some days you just need to get out of your apartment and be around other humans.
The WiFi in our rentals is solid, but changing scenery helps with creativity and productivity.
What About Rainy Days?
Puerto Vallarta's rainy season runs from June through October, and those afternoon downpours are REAL.
During rainy season, I prioritize spaces with covered outdoor seating or comfortable indoor areas. A Page In The Sun and the coworking spaces are clutch during these months.
