This neighborhood is where the real life happens. It is full of steep cobblestone streets and brightly painted houses. If you want to see the "real" Puerto Vallarta, you have to spend time here.
We love the fruit vendors on the street corners. You can smell the fresh mangoes and papayas from a block away! We always tell our guests to buy some fruit and take it back to their kitchen.
The streets here are narrow and winding. You might find a small taco stand that only the locals know about. Or a tiny shop selling handmade pottery. It is about discovery.
When you wander these streets together, you aren't just tourists. You are part of the neighborhood for a little while. That is what we mean by authentic local experiences. You get to see the laundry hanging on the balconies and hear the local music drifting out of the windows.
It is simple, but it is BEAUTIFUL.
Connection in the Heart of Old Town
Old Town is where the history of our city lives.
Some people call it Zona Romántica, and they are right: it is very romantic! We love the way the low-rise buildings look against the blue ocean. We always suggest a romantic guide to old town to help you find the best spots.
The cobblestones can be a little bumpy, so wear good shoes! But walking hand-in-hand through these streets is a must. You will pass by art galleries, small cafes, and beautiful flowers spilling over garden walls.
