When I lived in the heart of town, I found the absolute BEST place to disconnect for an hour. It is a tiny, hidden cove called Playa Amapas.<\/p>\n

The Best Mid-Day Escape<\/h2>\n

Playa Amapas is tucked away just south of the main beach. It feels a world away from the busy beach clubs and vendors of Los Muertos.<\/p>\n

I LOVE it because it feels calm and low-key, and no one is trying to sell you silver jewelry every five minutes. It is just you, the sand, and the bright blue water.<\/p>\n

It is the perfect place to clear your head. I often bring a book and just sit under the shade of a tree for sixty minutes.<\/p>\n

The silence here is sooo refreshing. It helps me focus much better when I get back to my desk for afternoon work.<\/p>\n

How to Get There<\/h2>\n

Getting to Amapas is half the fun! <\/p>\n

Start at the south end of Playa Los Muertos. You will see a big rock formation. Look for the little stone stairs carved right into the side of the cliff.<\/p>\n

I highly recommend wearing sandals with a back strap for this. The rocks can be a bit slippery when wet!<\/p>\n

You walk up the stairs, over the hill, and suddenly you are looking down at this gorgeous, secluded cove. It feels like a secret garden on the edge of the ocean.<\/p>\n

      I usually stay for about an hour or two. The water is usually very clear and great for a quick dip to cool off.<\/p>\n

      Deep work from 8 AM to noon. A quick walk to Playa Amapas for a swim. A delicious lunch at a nearby taco stand. Then back to the apartment for afternoon meetings.<\/p>\n

      Having a quiet place like Amapas nearby makes a HUGE difference in your productivity. It is my favorite way to avoid burnout while traveling.<\/p>\n
