I have spent years walking through Puerto Vallarta, and Amapas is still one of my favorite places to explore on foot.<\/p>\n

It gives us the best mix of nature, ocean views, quiet streets, and easy access to the beach. If you are visiting as a couple or working remotely as a digital nomad, you can enjoy a beautiful adventure without planning a full-day tour.<\/p>\n

These are my favorite easy Amapas walking routes. They are simple, scenic, and easy to fit around a relaxed vacation or a workday.<\/p>\n

1. Upper Amapas to Los Muertos Beach<\/h2>\n

This is the easiest route for getting your bearings.<\/p>\n

From the upper part of Amapas, walk downhill through the residential streets toward the beach. The route usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on where you start and how often you stop to enjoy the views.<\/p>\n

The streets are steep in places. That is part of the Amapas charm. You will see tropical plants, colorful walls, local homes, and glimpses of the blue bay between the buildings.<\/p>\n

I recommend wearing good walking sandals or sneakers. The pavement can be uneven, and the return walk is much steeper than the walk down.<\/p>\n

Once you reach Los Muertos Beach, you can pause for a swim, grab a cold drink, or continue along the shore. This route works especially well before a remote work session because it gives you movement without taking up your entire morning.<\/p>\n

2. Los Muertos Beach to Playa Amapas<\/h2>\n

For a short coastal adventure, start at the southern end of Los Muertos Beach.<\/p>\n

Look for El P\u00falpito, the rocky point that separates Los Muertos from Playa Amapas. A stone stairway takes you over the rocks. It is not a difficult climb, but you should take your time and watch your footing.<\/p>\n

I love this short section because the scenery changes quickly. One moment you are beside the busy beach. A few minutes later, you are looking at a quieter cove with clear water and lush green hills.<\/p>\n

The walk from Los Muertos to Playa Amapas usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes. Couples can make it a slow stroll with plenty of stops for photos. Solo travelers can enjoy it as a quick break between work blocks.<\/p>\n

The beach is a lovely place to sit for a while. Bring water and a towel if you want to stay longer.<\/p>\n

3. Playa Amapas to Conchas Chinas<\/h2>\n

This is my favorite Amapas coastal route.<\/p>\n

From Playa Amapas, walk toward the southern end of the sand. You will find a path that follows the shoreline toward Conchas Chinas. Parts of the route use a cement walkway, stone sections, and a cobblestone coastal road.<\/p>\n

The full walk takes about 30 to 40 minutes one way at a relaxed pace. Add more time if you want to stop at the small coves and tide pools along the way.<\/p>\n

Some parts are rocky. The route feels easy to moderate rather than completely flat. Sturdy sandals with a back strap or lightweight sneakers are much better than loose flip-flops.<\/p>\n

Tide conditions can change the experience. When the water is calm, you may enjoy walking closer to the shore. If the waves are rough, stay on the higher path and road.<\/p>\n

There are not many places to buy supplies once you leave Playa Amapas. I always bring water before starting. This simple habit makes the walk much more enjoyable.<\/p>\n

4. The Amapas hillside stair loop<\/h2>\n

The Amapas hills offer a completely different kind of walk.<\/p>\n

Instead of heading toward the beach, choose a few residential stairways and walk upward through the neighborhood. The exact route can vary depending on your starting point, so I suggest staying on clear, well-used paths.<\/p>\n

A short loop can take 45 minutes to an hour. You can turn around whenever the climb feels like enough.<\/p>\n

The reward is the view. Between the greenery and hillside buildings, you get wide looks across Banderas Bay. The higher sections also feel cooler and quieter than the streets near the beach.<\/p>\n

This route is excellent for couples who want to talk while walking. It is also great for digital nomads who need a quick reset after sitting at a desk.<\/p>\n

The stairs can be steep, so pace yourself. Stop often. Drink water. There is no reason to rush an Amapas walk.<\/p>\n
