I have spent so much time exploring the winding streets of Puerto Vallarta. <\/p>\n

I am talking about Gringo Gulch. <\/p>\n

If you are looking for the most romantic spot in town, this is it. <\/p>\n

We absolutely LOVE walking through this neighborhood in the late afternoon. <\/p>\n

It is quiet. It is beautiful. It is tucked away right above the main part of downtown. <\/p>\n

Most people walk right past the entrance without even knowing it is there. <\/p>\n

But for couples who want to escape the noise, it is a total dream. <\/p>\n

What is Gringo Gulch?<\/h3>\n

Gringo Gulch is a historic neighborhood perched on the hillside above the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. <\/p>\n

It is famous for its colonial-style architecture. <\/p>\n

Think bright white walls and red-tiled roofs. <\/p>\n

Think steep cobblestone streets and overflowing bougainvillea flowers. <\/p>\n

It got its name back in the 1950s and 60s when many expats from the United States started building homes here. <\/p>\n

But it became world-famous because of a massive Hollywood scandal. <\/p>\n

I think the history of this place is just SOOO fascinating. <\/p>\n

\"Panoramic<\/p>\n

The Romance of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton<\/h3>\n

You cannot talk about Gringo Gulch without talking about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. <\/p>\n

In 1963, Richard Burton came to Puerto Vallarta to film "The Night of the Iguana." <\/p>\n

He brought Elizabeth Taylor with him, even though they were both married to other people at the time. <\/p>\n

The paparazzi went crazy. <\/p>\n

Burton bought a house in Gringo Gulch called Casa Kimberley for Elizabeth\u2019s 32nd birthday. <\/p>\n

Then he bought the house across the street for himself. <\/p>\n

To stay connected, they built a pink bridge between the two houses. <\/p>\n

Locals call it the "Bridge of Reconciliation" or the "Love Bridge." <\/p>\n

Standing under that bridge today feels like stepping back into a movie set. <\/p>\n

It is the heart of the neighborhood\u2019s romantic vibe. <\/p>\n

We often start our walk at the bottom of the hill and just wander. <\/p>\n

Sometimes you find a small staircase that leads to a hidden courtyard. <\/p>\n

Other times you find a viewpoint that looks out over the entire bay. <\/p>\n

Starting Your Walk<\/h3>\n

I recommend starting your walk near the Cuale River. <\/p>\n

There is a small footbridge that leads you up into the hills. <\/p>\n

The climb can be a bit steep, so definitely wear comfortable shoes! <\/p>\n

The cobblestones are uneven, and there are many stairs. <\/p>\n

But the effort is totally worth it. <\/p>\n

As you climb higher, the sounds of the city start to fade away. <\/p>\n

You stop hearing the buses and the honking. <\/p>\n

Instead, you hear birds and the wind through the trees. <\/p>\n

It is one of those places that feels Beyond the Crowds<\/a>. <\/p>\n

It is peaceful. It is calm. <\/p>\n

It is the perfect place to hold hands and just talk. <\/p>\n

Sunset in the Gulch<\/h3>\n

The best time to visit is about an hour before sunset. <\/p>\n

The light hits the white houses and turns them a soft golden color. <\/p>\n

The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe is right below you. <\/p>\n
