I have lived in Puerto Vallarta for years. Every single morning, I wake up and look out my window. Most people come here for the ocean, and I LOVE the ocean! But my secret favorite part? It is the mountains.<\/p>\n

The Sierra Madre mountains wrap around our bay like a big, green hug. If you are a solo traveler, these mountains are where you find the real magic. It is so quiet up there. You can hear the birds. You can feel the breeze. It is the best place to clear your head.<\/p>\n

I want to share my favorite ways to enjoy the "high life" in PV. Whether you are hiking or just sitting on a balcony, the view from above changes everything.<\/p>\n

The Climb to Mirador de la Cruz<\/h2>\n

If you want the best view in the city, you have to work for it! The Mirador de la Cruz is a must-see. I recommend going early in the morning before it gets too hot. <\/p>\n

The hike starts in the heart of Old Town. You walk up the cobblestone streets. Then, you find the stairs. There are A LOT of stairs!! But they are so colorful and cute. You pass local houses with bright flowers. Sometimes a cat will watch you from a wall. <\/p>\n

When you reach the top, it is AMAZING. You can see the whole Bay of Banderas. You see the red-tiled roofs of the Puerto Vallarta vacation rentals<\/a> below. It makes you feel so small but so alive at the same time. I love to bring a bottle of water and just sit there for twenty minutes. <\/p>\n

\"Mirador<\/p>\n

It is the perfect spot for finding your zen<\/a> before the city wakes up. If you are traveling alone, it feels very safe and peaceful. You will usually see a few locals doing their morning workout. Everyone is friendly and says "Buenos d\u00edas!"<\/p>\n

Into the Sierra Madre<\/h2>\n

If you want to get even deeper into nature, you have to explore the trails. The Sierra Madre is full of life. It is like a giant playground for hikers. <\/p>\n

One of my favorite solo adventures is heading toward the Palo Maria waterfalls. Or, if I am feeling really brave, Monkey Mountain! These trails are lush and green. The smell of the jungle is so fresh. It smells like earth and rain and adventure.<\/p>\n

I highly recommend wearing good shoes. The trails can be rocky! But being alone in the forest is so rewarding. You don't have to talk to anyone. You can just listen to the wind in the trees. It is the ultimate solo nomad experience. <\/p>\n

\"Jungle<\/p>\n

Sometimes I pack a small lunch and find a flat rock near a stream. It is so much better than a crowded restaurant. If you are following my solo nomad\u2019s guide<\/a> to the city, make sure to add a mountain day to your schedule.
You need that balance between the busy cafes and the quiet trees.<\/p>\n

Your Home in the Hills<\/h2>\n

When you are looking for puerto vallarta condo rentals<\/a>, you have a big choice. Do you stay on the sand? Or do you stay on the hill? <\/p>\n

Personally, I think the hills are better for solo travelers. Why? Because the views are UNFORGETTABLE. Our property, Casa CC, is tucked right into the side of the mountain. <\/p>\n

Waking up at Casa CC is a dream. You open your sliding glass doors and the mountains are right there. They are so green they almost look fake! You can sit on your private balcony with a cup of coffee. No noise from the street. Just peace and quiet.<\/p>\n

\"Twilight<\/p>\n

The natural light in these hillside condos is incredible. It makes working remotely so much easier. If I have a big project to do, I sit by the window. Looking at the mountain helps me focus. It is way better than looking at a white wall in a hotel room!<\/p>\n

Local Life in 5 de Diciembre<\/h2>\n

One of the best things about staying in the hills is the neighborhood. If you stay in 5 de Diciembre or the upper parts of Old Town, you see real life. <\/p>\n

I love walking down the hill to the local markets. I buy fresh mangoes and tortillas. The vendors are so kind. They recognize you after a few days. Being a solo traveler can sometimes feel lonely, but not here. The community is so warm. <\/p>\n

We are a family-run business, and we love showing our guests the local spots. We can tell you exactly where to find the best street tacos or the quietest hiking path. That personalized service is what makes staying with us special. We treat you like a friend, not just a guest!<\/p>\n

Why the Mountains Matter<\/h2>\n

Many people think Puerto Vallarta is just about the beach. But the mountains are the soul of this place. They provide the water for our rivers. They protect us from the wind. And for a solo traveler, they provide a space to breathe.<\/p>\n

I find that I am my happiest when I am looking at the horizon. From the mountains, the horizon feels endless. You can see the sunset turn the sky into a painting. The oranges and purples are soooo vibrant! <\/p>\n

If you are planning a trip, don't just stay on the ground level. Come up higher. Experience the mountain magic for yourself. I promise you will fall in love with it just like I did.<\/p>\n

If you are coming to PV alone, do these three things:<\/p>\n

  1. Hike to the Cross at 8:00 AM.<\/li>\n
  2. Stay in a condo with a mountain view.<\/li>\n
  3. Take a walk in the Sierra Madre trails.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    You will leave feeling refreshed and inspired. Puerto Vallarta has a way of doing that to people! <\/p>\n
