Finding the perfect balance between a quiet workspace and a fun social life is not easy. When we first moved to Puerto Vallarta, we stayed right in the middle of everything. It was fun but also very loud.

Then we discovered Amapas. This neighborhood is a total game changer for couples like us. It feels like a secret sanctuary hidden in the hills. You get the peace and quiet you need for deep work but you are still just minutes away from the action.

If you are a couple working remotely, you need a spot that feels like home. You need space to breathe and views that inspire you. That is exactly what Amapas offers. We absolutely LOVE this neighborhood and we think you will too.

The Quiet Hillside Vibe

Amapas is tucked away just south of the busy Zona Romántica. It is built into the hillside of the Sierra Madre mountains. This means two things: incredible views and a lot of peace.

When we wake up here, we don't hear traffic or loud music. We hear birds and the wind in the palm trees. It is so relaxing. For couples who need to focus, this quiet environment is essential. You can actually hear yourself think!

The streets in Amapas are winding and full of greenery. It feels much more residential and local than the hotel zone. You won't find massive high-rise buildings here. Instead, there are beautiful low-rise villas and modern condos. It has a very upscale yet cozy feel.

Why Digital Nomad Couples Love It

Working as a couple in a small apartment can be tough. You need enough space so you aren't on top of each other during Zoom calls. Most of the properties in Amapas are designed with this in mind. They are spacious and bright.

One of the best things about staying here is the high-speed fiber optic WiFi. We know how frustrating slow internet can be. In Amapas, many of the modern buildings have upgraded to the best tech. You can have two people on video calls at the same time without any lagging. It is a dream come true for remote workers who need to stay connected.

We personally make sure our properties have the fastest internet possible. We know it’s the most important thing for your job. Nothing beats finishing a project while looking out at the ocean from your desk!

Proximity to Old Town

Even though Amapas feels secluded, it is incredibly close to Old Town Puerto Vallarta. We usually walk down the hill in the afternoon for a coffee or a snack. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to get to the heart of the Romantic Zone.

The walk is beautiful. You pass by lush gardens and catch glimpses of the bay. Coming back up the hill is a bit of a workout, but we like the exercise! If you aren't in the mood for a hike, an Uber is very cheap and takes only two minutes.

Having this "best of both worlds" setup is amazing. You can spend your day in a quiet, focused sanctuary and your evening at a vibrant taco stand or a beachfront bar. It really is the perfect setup for a balanced lifestyle.

Feature: The Nest

If you are looking for the ultimate couple's retreat, you have to check out The Nest. It is one of our favorite Puerto Vallarta rentals by owner because it is so cozy and modern.

The Nest is perfect for two people. It has large windows that let in so much natural light. There is a dedicated workspace where you can set up your laptop. The vibe is very clean and minimal, which helps with productivity.

But best of all, the views are SPECTACULAR. You can see the whole bay while you sip your morning coffee. It makes starting the workday so much better. We highly recommend this spot for anyone who wants a romantic and productive stay.

Life in the Hills

Living in the hills of Amapas gives you a different perspective of the city. You aren't just a tourist; you feel like a local. We love walking past the small fruit vendors and saying hello to the neighbors.

The air feels fresher up here, too. The ocean breeze hits the hillside and keeps things cool. Most afternoons, we open all the windows and let the tropical air flow through. It’s way better than sitting in an office with fluorescent lights!

For lunch, we often head down to a local spot for fresh ceviche or grilled fish. There are so many hidden gems just a short walk away. We love supporting the family businesses in the area. It makes our stay feel much more authentic.

Feature: Hummingbird

Another fantastic option for nomad couples is Hummingbird. This is one of our most popular vacation rentals for a reason. It has a very vibrant and energetic feel.

The layout is great for couples who need a bit of separation during the day. One person can work at the dining table while the other uses the desk in the bedroom. The decor is full of local art and bright colors, which we LOVE.

Hummingbird is located in a very quiet part of Amapas. You won't have to worry about noisy neighbors or construction sounds. It is truly a peaceful haven where you can get your work done and then totally relax.

Tips for Staying in Amapas

If you are planning to book a stay here, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Check the Internet: Always ask for a speed test. We provide these for all our guests because we know how important it is.

Wear Comfortable Shoes: The hills are no joke! You will want good sneakers for the walk into town.

Stock Up: We usually buy our groceries at the local markets in Old Town. It is a great way to save money and eat fresh.

Embrace the Peace: Take time to just sit on your balcony and watch the ocean. It’s the best part of being here.

Final Thoughts

Amapas is truly a hidden gem. It offers the quiet, the views, and the high-speed internet that digital nomads need. Plus, it is close enough to the fun of the city that you never feel like you're missing out.

Whether you are staying for a week or a few months, this neighborhood will make you feel right at home. We have spent so much time here and we still find new things to love every day.

If you are a couple looking for the perfect remote work base, Amapas is the answer. It is romantic, peaceful, and totally functional.
