There is something truly MAGIC about waking up in Amapas before the rest of the world starts moving.
I’ve lived in Puerto Vallarta my whole life. I’m a local, born and raised right here in this beautiful city. Even after all these years, the mornings in the hills of Amapas still take my breath away every single time.
If you are a solo traveler, you know that the morning sets the tone for your whole day. When I stay at our properties, I have a very specific routine that makes me feel grounded, energized, and SOOO ready for whatever the day brings.
Today, I want to share my perfect solo morning routine with you. If you want a quiet, peaceful, and authentic experience, this is for you!
The First Light on Your Private Balcony
My routine always starts with the sun.
I don’t even need an alarm anymore. The light in Amapas is different. Because we are tucked into the jungle hills, the sun peeks over the Sierra Madre mountains and hits the water of Banderas Bay in a way that is just BEAUTIFUL.
I love staying at Casa CC. It’s one of our favorite puerto vallarta condo rentals because it has these massive glass windows and a balcony that makes you feel like you are floating in the trees. It really fits what people want when they search for puerto vallarta vacation rentals with a peaceful local feel.
I wake up, slide open those glass doors, and just breathe. The air is cool and smells like tropical flowers and salty sea.

It is so quiet. You might hear a few tropical birds or the distant sound of the waves, but that’s it. No traffic. No loud music. Just peace.
The Ritual of the First Cup
Next up is the coffee.
I’m a big coffee drinker, and I think a solo morning is the best time to really enjoy a cup without any distractions.
All of our condos have fully stocked kitchens. I love grinding some fresh Mexican beans and letting the smell fill the apartment.
I take my mug back out to the balcony and just sit. No phone. No emails. Just me and the view.

If you are a digital nomad, this is the best time to clear your head. I often think about my goals for the day during this time. If you are a puerto vallarta digital nomad, this quiet start really helps. I’ve written a whole guide on productive mornings for nomads if you need more tips on how to balance work and travel. It’s a simple way to enjoy puerto vallarta remote work without losing that vacation feeling!
But for now, it’s just about the serenity.
The Morning Walk Down the Hill
Around 7:30 AM, I put on my shoes and head out.
Amapas is a very safe and walkable neighborhood. It’s mostly low-rise buildings and private homes, so it feels very "old school" Puerto Vallarta.
I love walking down the cobblestone streets. Everything is so green! The bougainvillea is usually in full bloom, spilling over white walls in bright pinks and purples.

It’s a bit of a workout coming back up, but the walk down is easy and beautiful. It only takes about 5 or 10 minutes to get to the heart of the action.
Los Muertos Beach Before the Crowds
By 8:00 AM, I’m usually standing on the sand at Los Muertos Beach.
If you go later in the day, this beach is BUSY. But in the early morning? It’s a dream.
You’ll see a few locals taking their morning swim and maybe some fishermen near the pier. I like to walk along the water’s edge. The sand is cool, and the water is usually very calm at this hour.
I’ve talked before about how important it is to find these solo serene moments when you are traveling by yourself. It helps you connect with the city in a way that most tourists never do.
Fueling Up at a Local Café
After my walk, I’m usually hungry.
I like to stop at a local café in Old Town. Since Amapas is right next door, you have so many options.
I usually look for a place that feels local. I avoid the big chains and look for the family-run spots. Supporting our community is a HUGE part of what we do at The PVGirl.
I’ll grab a fresh juice and maybe some chilaquiles. There is nothing better than a spicy breakfast to wake you up!
Getting Down to Work
By 9:30 AM, I’m back at the condo.
The walk back up the hill is the perfect way to get my heart rate up.
If I have work to do, I head straight to the dedicated workspace. I love the setup at Hummingbird. It’s one of our most popular condo and apartment rentals puerto vallarta at The PVGirl because it has a wide-open studio feel and GREAT wifi. For solo stays, it also works beautifully as one of our puerto vallarta mexico rentals for a quiet and focused escape.

I find that I am SOOO much more productive when I have a view of the mountains. It keeps me inspired.
All our units have fast, reliable internet (150 Mbps or more!), so you don’t have to worry about dropping out of a Zoom call.
Why This Routine Works
Traveling solo can be intense. There is so much to see and do.
But if you don’t take the time to ground yourself in the morning, you can get burnt out.
The Amapas neighborhood is the perfect place for this. You are close enough to the restaurants and the beach in Old Town to have fun, but you are far enough away to have a quiet "nest" to return to.
We are a family business. We care about your experience. We want you to see the Puerto Vallarta that we love: the one that is peaceful, vibrant, and authentic.
If you are planning a trip soon, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying in Amapas. It will change the way you see the city!
