Hey there! I’m Jeff, the owner of The PVGirl, and I’ve been living the dream in Puerto Vallarta for quite some time now.
If you are a solo traveller or a digital nomad like me, you know that the workday can sometimes feel a bit long, even when your office has a view of the Pacific.
I’ve found that the best way to shake off the "zoom fatigue" is to have a ritual that grounds me.
For me, that ritual is heading south to Playa Conchas Chinas for the sunset.
It is honestly one of my favorite things to do in the entire world.
There is something so magical about the way the light hits the rocks there.
It’s quiet, it’s beautiful, and it’s the perfect place to just be.
Finding My Zen as a Puerto Vallarta Digital Nomad
Being a puerto vallarta digital nomad means I have the freedom to choose my scenery every single day.
But with that freedom comes the need for a routine that keeps me sane.
I usually wrap up my work around 5:30 PM.
I shut my laptop, grab a light towel, and head out the door of one of our zona romantica puerto vallarta rentals.
The walk from the heart of the Romantic Zone (or Old Town, as we locals often call it) is half the fun.
I love walking along the coastal road, feeling the breeze change from the humid city heat to that cool ocean mist.
If you haven't explored the city much yet, you might want to check out my other post, Quiet Moments: My Solo Guide to 5 de Diciembre's Local Markets, to see how I spend my mornings!
But my evenings? Those belong to Conchas Chinas.

Why Conchas Chinas is the Ultimate Escape
Playa Conchas Chinas is often called the "Beverly Hills of Puerto Vallarta," but don't let that intimidate you.
While there are beautiful villas tucked into the cliffs, the beach itself is totally public and incredibly peaceful.
It’s much quieter than Los Muertos beach.
You won't find loud music or crowds of people trying to sell you silver jewelry here.
Instead, you find these amazing natural tide pools formed by rock formations.
The water in these pools is usually crystal clear and very calm.
I like to find a flat rock, sit down, and just watch the tiny fish swim around while the sky starts to change color.
It is SOOO relaxing!!
If you’re staying in any of our condos for rent in puerto vallarta, you’re just a short Uber or a scenic 20-minute walk away from this paradise.
The Colors of the South Side
The sunsets on the South Side are different than anywhere else in the bay.
Because the mountains meet the ocean right here, the shadows play across the jungle in a way that is just STUNNING.
I’ve seen the sky turn every shade of orange, pink, and deep violet you can imagine.
Sometimes the clouds look like they are literally on fire.
It makes me feel so grateful to call this place home.
I usually sit there in total silence.
No podcasts, no music, just the sound of the waves hitting the rocks.
It’s a great time to reflect on the day or plan my next move.
If you’re looking for a more high-energy evening later on, you should definitely read about A Local Date Night: Dancing the Night Away in Old Town.
But for me, the sunset is for stillness.

A Place for Reflection and Inspiration
As someone who runs a business like The PVGirl, I’m always thinking about how to make our guests' stays better.
Sitting on that beach helps me clear my head so I can come up with new ideas.
I think about the people staying in our puerto vallarta rentals by owner and hope they are finding their own little slices of heaven too.
Whether you are here for a week or a month, you need these moments.
The sand at Conchas Chinas is a bit different too: it’s coarser and full of tiny shells and "conchas" (hence the name!).
I love the texture of it under my feet.
It feels more "wild" than the manicured beaches closer to the city center.
It reminds me that nature is the real boss around here.

What to Bring for Your Solo Sunset Ritual
You don't need much to enjoy this experience.
In fact, the less you bring, the better.
I usually just take:
- A small beach towel or a Mexican sarong.
- A bottle of water (stay hydrated, friends!).
- My phone (only for a few quick photos, then it stays in my bag).
- A light sweater if it’s during the winter months, as it can get a bit breezy once the sun goes down.
The walk back can be a bit dark, so I usually head back just as the "blue hour" starts.
The streetlights in the hills start flickering on, and it looks like a fairy tale.
It’s the most peaceful walk you’ll ever take.
Your Private Oasis Awaits
After my sunset ritual, I love coming back to a space that feels like home.
Our properties are designed for people who appreciate the finer, quieter side of life.
We focus on providing a comfortable, stylish environment where you can actually get work done if you're a nomad, or just lounge if you're on vacation.
Take a look at this balcony view: it’s exactly the kind of vibe we aim for.

Imagine coming home from the beach and having a glass of wine right there.
No noise, no chaos: just the twinkling lights of the city in the distance.
It is the perfect way to end a day in Puerto Vallarta.
Why I LOVE the South Side
The South Side has a soul that you just don't find in the newer parts of town.
It’s where the history of the city meets the beauty of the jungle.
Playa Conchas Chinas is the crown jewel of this area.
It’s a place where you can feel completely alone in the best way possible.
If you are traveling solo, it’s a very safe and welcoming spot.
I see other solo travelers there all the time, everyone just doing their own thing and respecting each other's space.
It’s a community of people who all appreciate the same quiet beauty.

Making the Most of Your Stay
If you are planning your trip, I really encourage you to look at condos for rent in puerto vallarta that are located on this end of town.
Being close to the beach and the action of the Romantic Zone, while still having a quiet retreat, is the ultimate "have your cake and eat it too" scenario.
We take a lot of pride in our rentals because we want you to love this city as much as we do.
You can follow our daily adventures and see more sunset shots on our Instagram.
We love sharing the little hidden gems that make PV so special.
Puerto Vallarta is more than just a vacation destination; it’s a lifestyle.
And a sunset at Conchas Chinas is the perfect introduction to that lifestyle.
Final Thoughts on My Evening Ritual
I've been to a lot of beaches in my life, but Conchas Chinas always pulls me back.
It’s not just about the view; it’s about how the place makes you feel.
It makes you feel small in the best way, reminding you of the vastness of the ocean and the beauty of a day well-spent.
If you’re a digital nomad looking for a place to recharge, or a solo traveler seeking a moment of peace, this is it.
Don't miss out on this experience when you visit.
It is truly a life-changing ritual that I look forward to every single day.
Go there, find your rock, and watch the sun dip below the horizon.
You won't regret it!
Playa Conchas Chinas for a solo sunset is highly recommended.
